Life as You Know It
We published a new article on Babyvibe today exploring the statement that “everything will change” that so many well-meaning friends and strangers share with us during pregnancy. For now, we will share an excerpt with you:
Life as a Parent
Ask any expectant mom or dad what advice they hear the most and the answer is usually: “Everything is going to change.” Other favourites? “Get some sleep while you still can,” “Just you wait,” and the ever cheerful, “Life as you know it is about to end!”
To many, these pronouncements are received with a unique blend of hopeful denial, mild dread, and utter delight. We like sleeping through the night, traveling on a whim, and a good slow morning coffee and paper. At the same time, we eagerly anticipate the feeling of holding our child in our arms.
We know the changes are coming, we just don’t know what they will be like for us. It is hard to imagine life as a parent until you’re on the other side. We learn through experience – all the imagination in the world cannot equal the intuitive knowing that emerges as we hold our babies for the first time.

Ahhh, your article put words to my strange sentimentality I have towards changing diapers. I am so glad that I have that memory to enjoy. It is stronger then the photographed birthday cake moments or the other memories I thought I would be enjoying as my kids grow up.
