Mama’s Mandala

We’ve seen several mamas we know go on big trips recently away from their sweet children.  Some for work, some for personal development, and some for the simple and important reason of needing some time and space for themselves.

We came across this quote recently and wanted to share the powerful imagery with you:

“When I travel alone far from home,

I think of my children’s faces to calm myself down.

Those faces are my mandalas. They comfort and secure me.

The faces of those we love are the first,

the primal, mandalas for us all.”

-Mary Pipher in her 1996 book The Shelter of Each Other

Hi Sarah! I just stumbled back onto your website & feel like it’s serendipity that I found this quote. I’m going away for a week with my husband & have that mix of excitement & anxiety at leaving my 3 children. I’ll be bringing some pictures, mandalas of my beautiful babes. Hope all is well, my friend! Kristin (BFW mentor in Richmond, VA)

I’m going for a weekend away from my two kiddos and hubby next weekend – it will be the first time I’m away overnight from my still-nursing 1yr old and I’m caught in between excitement and anxiety! I’m so glad that my 3yr old is a chatty one on the phone, I know having her sing to me will be very comforting!

Funny that I will be the one needing comforting…

    I know the feeling Sarah!
I’m packing this moment for a weekend workshop away from my beloved and packing a bag for her for her roadtrip with Daddy…
I put drops of my favorite essential oils on the clothes I pack for her so she gets the smells of her Mommy all weekend.
I will be missing mine all weekend!
